In the face of pervasive racism and stereotyping, particularly in recent years, it’s important for all minority communities to stand together in solidarity. On today’s episode, we’ve invited Janine Oda and Ryan Alexander Holmes to sit with us and discuss their experiences growing up Black and Asian. How did their mixed families, and the way that society viewed them, affect their personal cultural identities?
Janine is an actress, who you may recognize from Wong Fu Productions’ Yappie, Everything Before Us, or Traif: An Unkosher Series.
Ryan is an actor and content creator who uses his story and voice to encourage others of mixed ethnic/cultural backgrounds to fully embrace who they are. You may have seen his bilingual skits on TikTok, or his roles in The Morning Show and Dear White People.
