About asianbossgirl
A podcast for the modern day Asian American woman hosted by Melody Cheng, Helen Wu, & Janet Wang. It's no secret that Asian women are lacking in almost all media outlets, and those who are present mostly represent the fashion, beauty, or blogging industries.
We started ABG as girlfriends while balancing jobs in finance, technology, & media with corporate careers spanning over a decade. Here, we share our experiences and explore topics as 20/30 something Asian American women working, dating, and living in LA, CA. Grab a glass of wine and let's get this show started ;)
A special thank you to our Producers Philip Wang and Eric Wang, Audio Editor Michelle Hsieh, Newsletter Editor Haemee Kang, Jennet Liaw for branding and graphics, and jrodtwins for photography.
The Hosts
Melody Cheng
Melody Cheng is the co-host & co-founder of the podcast, AsianBossGirl, a podcast-turned small media company. She is a proud Taiwanese-American originally from the Bay Area and her passion lies in storytelling and connecting with people through digital media, especially within the API community. Prior to working at AsianBossGirl, Melody had a career working in social media marketing and studio production for photography. When she’s not working on the podcast, you can find her binge-watching Korean dramas or, as a self-proclaimed "Comfort Cook," in the kitchen trying out her mom's recipes.
Helen Wu
Helen Wu-Wang is a Boston-native podcast host, entrepreneur, and digital content creator. Prior to founding her podcast, AsianBossGirl, with two of her best friends, Helen worked at one of the Big 4 accounting firms as a Business Valuation Manager. Diversity in representation is fundamental to the values she believes in, and with ABG, her passion and purpose have aligned as she seeks to empower the next generation of API leaders. She is the proud daughter of Chinese immigrants and loves embracing her family’s cultural traditions, like taking care of her elders, and making the most collagen-rich, gelatinous soups. Helen lives in Los Angeles with her husband and the new love of their lives, a squishy little 6-month-old boy.
Janet Wang
Janet Wang is a co-founder and co-host of AsianBossGirl, a podcast-turned small media company. She is a Chinese-American SoCal native who has spent time in San Francisco, New York, Miami, and Kenya, before settling back into Los Angeles. Prior to ABG, she worked in tech as a UX designer. Janet is also a wellness content creator focused on meditation, yoga, plant-based eating and living, health and self-improvement, and contemporary art.
